My future job

About my future job, I don't know, I hope it will be related to the area of pharmaceutical sciences after so much blood, sweat and tears dedicated to this career.

I know that all jobs carry a certain load of stress related to it, but I hope that the one I have is not so high, for example I would not like to work in a hospital in the clinical area, there the decisions directly influence people's lives in serious health, I think I'm not willing to do that.

During 2018 I did an internship at the Exequiel Gónzales Cortés Hospital, a public children's hospital. There I was in the hospital pharmacy for outpatients, there I had to receive the prescription and dispense the monthly treatment of the patients, generally it was the parents or grandparents who went for the treatment of their children or grandchildren, many times they came outside of Santiago.

Most of the time the procedure was simple, enter the data, calculate how many tablets or whatever they needed for the month, then collect them and deliver them along with the new withdrawal date, however there were times when the medications were not there, Because the hospital had not yet received the medicine from the laboratory, many times it happened that they were going to withdraw an asthma inhaler and it was not available.

It was more than one case, and each time I advanced in the patients I was afraid that another parent would come to ask for this inhaler and have to say no, due to the whole context of the situation, or also with other things such as probes or even lenses that the hospital manufactured the children who needed them. As you see this context is not directly life or death, however it also carries a huge amount of stress, I hope I don't have a job like that either.

I know this blog was about what I wanted in a future job, but I don't know, I just know what I don't want, which is to face situations like this

  1. I think it is very difficult to have so much responsibility for people, but at the same time it must be very satisfying when people feel grateful for your work.
